An exceptional designer is well worth an exceptional book; co-authored by Sylvie Raulet and Olivier Baroin.
During a conference organized at the Académie du Luxe by Dominique Harnois and Sabine Temin with the authors of the book, I discovered the fascinating life of this talented designer whose archives that were believed to have disappeared, were re-discovered in 2007 and entrusted to Olivier Baroin, who has been peeling them for more than two and a half years with Sylvie Raulet to create this fabulous book.
Suzanne Belperron (1900- 1983), a woman of character and exception has created timeless pieces of jewelry that have survived the ages and remained current in style. The pieces were initially referred to as a "billionaire's fancy", but now they are being snapped up at auction for very high prices.
In fact, just last week at Christie's a wealthy American broke the World Record for a Suzanne Belperron bracelet; made with tourmalines, emeralds, peridots, beryls and colored sapphires it sold for 247,000€, while the high bidding range was estimated at 120,000€.

Suzanne Belperron was an accomplished designer who drew all of her models using the gouache technique, requesting her clients to validate based on the drawing all her made-to-measure pieces. She mostly used the stones of her customers to deliver original and innovative creations with stones or supports qualified as "less precious" such as wood, quartz, chalcedony, etc.
She is one of the first designers to have appeared in Vogue and knew perfectly well how to sublimate the outfits of fashion designers with her jewelry, finishing off the silhouette.
