Meeting with de Grace

Meet...

Written by Bérengère Treussard - Monday, May 9, 2016

For the tenth encounter I met with Maison de Grace, a jeweller yet unknown to much of the general public. This jewellery Maison retained an air of confidentiality up to now by solely creating high jewellery pieces and providing stones to the members of the elite and to other jewellers of the Place Vendôme.

This Peacock necklace is representative of the Maison’s know-how and is probably also one of its masterpieces, made all of diamonds and natural sapphires. The graphic display inspired by the Art Deco of the piece itself gives it an even more modern touch.

The Maison de Grace revealed itself to the wider public in September 2015 at the occasion of the Paris jewellery tradeshow « Révélations », showing to all, including the French Prime Minister who was present, an exclusive high jewellery know how and a choice of exceptional stones.

Indeed, Jacques, the father, after learning to craft jewellery at the workbench, plunges into the amazing world of gemmology. He travels the world in search of extraordinary stones to supply the Place Vendôme. Building on his skills in jewellery design and a prestigious clientèle of stone buyers, he progressively shifts into creating high jewellery pieces for a select clientele.

In 1985, he founds the Maison de Grace. In the 1990s the development in the Gulf brings him special orders from the Sultanate of Brunei as well as from the Prince Al Thani of Qatar. Indeed, he has created for the Sultanate of Brunei a series of art objects with a hint of erostism, from what I understood…

Jacques passes down his passion to his son Grégory, though the latter imagined himself more of a rock star than a jeweller. In the end it’s kind of the same job: make people dream and manager self promotion! Gregory works together with his father and proceeds to reveal to the public a savoir faire which was for long kept secret.

Grégory & Jacques – Maison de Grace

Both keen admirers of women, they know how to perfectly enlighten and reveal their beauty, with jewellery inspired by the Art Deco period, dear to Jacques, or with high jewellery creations, unique for the quality of the stones or because of an audacious fabrication.

Here is an example with these two crazy rings, collectors’ items!

Or these more classical rings I am fan of:

Watch out for this jewellery Maison in the following years. It conceals so many secrets that it is most likely its creations will be brought to light by chance through private collection made public. Keep your eyes open…

For the realisation of this photo, I thank the Maison de Grace, photographer Nicolas Mongalon and photo retouch studio Nakunpouce.
