CHANEL NO. 5, THE PERFUME CELEBRATED IN FINE JEWELRY

To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of the famous CHANEL No. 5 perfume, Patrice Léguérau, Director of the CHANEL Fine Jewelry Creation Studio, conceptualized the “No. 5 Collection”, the first and only fine jewelry collection ever dedicated to a perfume, from the bottle to the sillage.

The idea of celebrating the perfume created in 1921, drawing inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s first fine jewelry collection from 1932, made of diamonds and platinum, perfectly transcends CHANEL’s world. A timeless perfume glorified and crystallized in a collection of fine jewelry pieces.

Stopper, Bottle, Number, Flowers and Sillage are the 5 themes of this unique collection of 123 timeless pieces reflecting the main features of the mythical perfume and the magic of CHANEL. A contrast between the graphic style of the bottle and the sensuality of the fragrance magnified by compositions of rare and exceptional gems.

The highlight of this unprecedented collection is an emblematic necklace set with a 55.55-carat diamond.

The Stopper and The Bottle: emerald cut and graphic collection

The emerald cut, which evokes both the top of the CHANEL No. 5 stopper and the rectangular shape of the Place Vendôme, is at the heart of these two graphic collections. The stopper symbolizes the gateway to the imaginary world of this mythical perfume and towards poetic scents. The precious octagon is beautifully crafted from rock crystal, set with diamonds, onyx, pearls, and yellow sapphires.

The Bottle is even more geometric, revealing a silhouette with lines of white diamonds, yellow diamonds and yellow sapphires cascading over sautoir necklaces, brooches and earrings, and a beautiful collection of rose gold and diamond pieces. A kind of poetry that is both graphic and visual.

The Number 5: timeless and mischievous

The outline of the number 5 is in the spotlight with a powerful and sensual design, which has become one of the signatures of this collection. Treated with lightness as a ribbon, the number draws a joyful line between the pieces, both subtle and more conspicuous on certain pieces. It sits mischievously off-center on a yellow gold and diamond choker with a drop of golden beryl. In the XL version, the number 5 heightens the ardor of the Eternal No. 5 necklace that can be turned into a choker, and whose 5 can also be worn as a brooch.

The Flowers and The Sillage: two more feminine and floral collections

Two more colorful and feminine collections that illustrate the floral notes at the heart of the fragrance: Grasse jasmine, May rose and ylang-ylang blossom. Crafted in three dimensions, the flowers retain all their delicacy, while their appearance in the shape of a star, a moon and a sun echo the symbols in the 1932 platinum and diamond collection. The freshness of the Jasmine resembles a star and fills a cloud of diamonds with fragrance. CHANEL interprets the May rose generously through a round, moon-like flow with its many petals dipped in pink sapphires. We’re in love! Crafted like a sun, the Ylang-ylang glows at the center of luminous necklaces with a dew-like sprinkling of diamonds.

Finally, in order to convey the olfactory revolution that is the No. 5 perfume, CHANEL has designed pieces with abstract patterns that shimmer and melt into the skin like perfume. The solar and amber colors of a sumptuous composition of over 350 carats of imperial topazes give the Golden Burst necklace a majestic air. In pink harmonies, CHANEL plays the feminine card with the Blushing Sillage jewelry set, made with diamonds, rubies, garnets, yellow sapphires and pink and red spinels, forming a gradation of colors reminiscent of the No. 5’s golden essence. This collection is wonderful.

These last two collections are definitely the ones we like the most. They are also quite colorful and filled with gemstones. Our favorite piece is this splendid Blushing Sillage rose gold necklace with diamonds, rubies, spinels, garnets and yellow sapphires. Wearing it is like visually embodying the sensuality of CHANEL No. 5.

Totally CHANEL and so No. 5, this collection completely reflects Gabrielle Chanel’s world and takes us back to the fabulous exhibition “Gabrielle Chanel – Fashion Manifesto” at the Palais Galliera in Paris. The catalog is still available. The exhibition highlights the timelessness of Gabrielle Chanel’s creations and her extreme modernity, which is still true today.

Only CHANEL could dedicate a fine jewelry collection to the most famous perfume in the world.
