Meeting with TASAKI

Meet...

Written by Bérengère Treussard - Monday, November 25, 2019

Know-how, quality and modernity are the fundamental values carried by TASAKI, one of the greatest jewelers in Japan who has settled in a house that shares its drive for excellence: the Ritz Paris.

We are pleased to begin this wonderful Rencontre avec the TASAKI Maison in collaboration with the photographer Yoann L’Hostellier.

TASAKI, The Bold Pearl

Founded in 1954, Tasaki specializes in Akoya Pearls and beautifies a rarely unparalleled Japanese aesthetic. Without envying Place Vendôme for the quality of their manufacturing, TASAKI is known for combining pearls, diamonds and gold in an architectural, graphic and contemporary way. They could even be considered as the « Repossi of the pearl », with their fashionable and avant-garde style, always at the forefront of trends and rock attitude.

Daring to cut a pearl in half, all the while perfectly mastering the materials and the entire production chain are all signs of audacity. Indeed, in the great concern of delivering a product of great excellence, TASAKI is the only Japanese jeweler to own Akoya pearl farms (fresh seawater pearls). The diamonds, with their specific cut, have been sourced as rough directly from the De Beers mines since 1994 in accordance with the Kimberly process (obtaining a preferential buyer status) and are then cut in their own workshops.

Creative and in perpetual search for renewal, Tasaki has also created their own pink gold color to sublimate the skin; sakuragold and regularly collaborates with renowned designers such as Marie-Hélène de Taillac, Mélanie Georgacopoulos for the collection MG/ TASAKI or Thakoon Panichgul particularly for the collection Cosmic and Balance while keeping NYC-based designer Prabal Gurung, creator of the "Atelier" collection, as Artistic Director.

Disruptive and sharp, Tasaki jewelry breaks with convention and offers a bold new way of wearing pearls and color with grace.

The "Danger" collection stands out with its very sharp, punk twist. A striking contrast between femininity and dangerousness, this mixed jewelry line allows you to assert your own personality.

TASAKI, A Drive For Excellence

In addition to their audacity, this Japanese Maison has a particular drive for excellence and offers hyper-sophisticated collections, combining both modernity and know-how.

A special collection named TASAKI Atelier Haute Joaillerie showcases highly crafted and elaborated techniques using pearls and diamonds.

In the collection created especially for the opening at the Ritz in 2016, Ritz Paris by TASAKI, the jeweler takes inspiration from the palace and sublimates it with superb finery. As illustrated in particular by this photo of the magnificent "Pearls of Light" necklace and single earring, inspired by the gardens at the Ritz.

We particularly liked two pieces, which represent the Maison TASAKI well for their poetic approach and the vegetal form, inspired by the gardens at the Ritz Palace in Paris. For my part, I see a pretty spring of lily of the valley, symbolizing love and happiness, to be worn around the neck or ear. A very pretty ring completes the set.

With these two collections, this Japanese Maison consolidates its know-how and its excellence. It offers creations of irreproachable quality, imbued with unique creativity. We particularly appreciate the excellent quality of their pearls and gems used in their creations, as well as materials such as high-tech platinum alloy, used for wedding and engagement rings.

Since July 9th 2019, two iconic pieces from the Tasaki Maison have entered the no less iconic collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris : the rings "Balance" and "Refined Rebellion" rings.

Symbol of balance and harmony, the "Balance" collection presents alignments of perfectly calibrated pearls, as if suspended on a precious metal base. Each piece is unique: of apparent simplicity, it is the result of meticulous operations to perfectly adjust the series of pearls highlighted in gold, and to heighten the softness of their brilliance.

Resolutely modern, the "Refined Rebellion" collection combines two concepts: the sophistication of a sharp design and the non-conformism of a stone shape developed and registered specifically for this collection. The gemstones and diamonds are turned upside down, magnifying the culet, maximized for their brilliance. This revolutionary technique requires high levels of requirement and know-how.

With significant presence in Japan and Asia (Hong Kong, China and Korea in particular), and around one hundred stores spread across the continent, including the flagship store in Tokyo Ginza, TASAKI has been expanding in Europe since 2016. They are notably present at the Bon Marché Rive Gauche, at Printemps Haussmann, at the GL Champs Elysées and at the Ritz in Paris, then at Dover Street Market in London.

Early in 2019, TASAKI opened its first European flagship store, located at 170 New Bond Street in London, thus marking a new chapter in the brand's international development.
