"I hate couples who remind me that I'm alone! I hate couples. I simply hate them!", sang Anaïs at the top of her voice in 2005. If there is a time of the year when the "love-dripping" sappiness (another excerpt from Mon Coeur Mon Amour by Anaïs) can be annoying, for the single and the cynical, it is February 14. Valentine's Day, a celebration that is often pointed at as commercial, is right around the corner. And don't assume it's completely out of fashion. Indeed, nearly three quarters of those under 35 are planning on celebrating Valentine's Day with their significant other this year (study conducted by Emova Group, leader in flower distribution in France – Monceau Fleurs, Au nom de la rose, Happy and Coeur de Fleurs). Even though 34% of them are planning on getting a lovely bouquet as a gift, jewelry remains a safe bet to declare one's love.
And if that means playing the romantic card – granted, a little cheesy – why not go all the way? Made desirable by Lily Collins, aka Emily Cooper, in the last episode of season 2 of Emily in Paris, who wears it in an extra-large version over a deep neckline, the heart motif never ceases to inspire jewelers and prestigious brands.
