Boucheron's "Serpent Bohème"…

Fine Jewellery Trends

What to say about the new collection Serpent Bohème ? Trend?

It is indeed the year of the Snake and Boucheron draws from their archives the snake, which inspired greatly the founding father. A strong symbol, the snake has inspired a contemporary yet timeless collection in white or yellow gold.

It's a bit easy to take inspiration from past collections to create a new one, wouldn't you say? And, come to think of it, that's essentially what many designers do. Preserving the brand DNA is not always easy. At times it is necessary to delve back in time and in the history of the brand to be inspired and pay tribute to icons of the past. To design the future, inspired from a model of the past (1970s) and naming it serpent bohème.

Trending? The manner in which the collection was presented certainly was, without a doubt. A press evening reserved for bloggers, masterfully orchestrated by Laura Cohen, head of communications at Boucheron who convened several celebrity hair dressers, kings of disheveled hair-dos, of glamorous buns, the one who "sublimes" women… Fred basically!

In fact, I hardly had the time to lay my fur coat down - don't get me wrong, you never get something for nothing and I love acting up! - a glass of champagne magically arrived in my hands and, presto! Presentation! Original staging, cozy atmosphere, chuckles, crackling light flashes, a dimly light first room narrates the history that inspired the new collection, a book is opened with the drawing of a snake. As you pass your hand over the pages, a snake made of projected lights gushes out of the book... fun and original...

By the second glass of champagne we get to the heart of the subject, the new collection! In an illuminated room with a view on Place Vendôme, a dressing table adorned with pieces from the new collection and, in front of it, a young lady having her hair done by Fred, yes Fred as in CUT BY FRED… The celebrity hairdresser, from Vanessa Paradis to Mélanie Laurent. He braids faster than anyone I know and always with a sophisticated air with his signature styled yet tousled look.

In short! Who says pieces of jewelry, says security... Three men to make sure that the jewels don't vanish out of the room... Third glass of champagne? ...I'm ready to try on the magnificent vintage necklace made of turquoise.

I decided to stack the rings from the new collection on my fingers and adorn myself like a Christmas tree or like "Miss France on the 14th of July parade" as Ornella from Pourvu que ça brille would say...

The guys at security are going crazy, counting and recounting the pieces... apologies gentlemen, but I simply LOVED it!

Here is the watch from the Serpent Bohème collection :

My only regret? ... the same collection but with turquoise? So beautiful!

Thank you Boucheron for this excellent evening!

See you soon for Baselworld, The Watch and Jewellery Fair!
