Suzanne Syz: pop art jewelry

Dynamic, radiant and captivating… you never get bored listening to fabulous contemporary jewelry designer Suzanne Syz. A close supporter of the 1980s Pop Art movement, Suzanne rejuvenates traditional jewelry by seeking out innovation, fantasy, humor and creativity with novel materials and techniques. A true pop artist of the jewelry world, she subverts traditional concepts to reveal original and unconventional jewelry. Born in Switzerland, she studied in Paris before settling in crazy 1980s New York City, where she rubbed shoulders with artists such as Andy Warhol, Julian Schnabel, Francesco Clemente, Jeff Koons or Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of her close friends. This creative environment had a critical role in shaping her work. Suzanne uses colors and reinterprets stones and materials to m...

Suzanne Syz – start collecting right now!

The show must go on earrings by Suzanne Syz ©BérengèreTreussard2019 Just 18 years ago, Suzanne Syz was creating her first jewelry collection and already breaking with convention. Influenced by the artists she spent time with during her New York years, such as Jean-Michel Basquiat or Jeff Koons, this free-minded designer was always up for a challenge and willing to take risks in order to create original, transgressive, fun and colorful jewelry. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Suzanne Syz declared she would stop creating jewelry once she had reached the thousandth piece, and that moment has now come… it is with a heavy heart that we found out about her store’s permanent closure by the end of February 2021. It is time for the artist to close this chapter and open a new o...

Spotlight on High Jewelry

Spotlight on High Jewelry

At the occasion of the January Haute Couture week in Paris, certain Houses present their new collections. Headlights on this week’s classical yet contemporary show. The Maison Chaumet goes back to classics with the 4 precious and fine pearls for secure values: sapphires, diamonds, rubies, emeralds. A great contrast compared to their collection Trésors d’Afrique from this summer, but what exquisite beauty with such incredible stones. A return to the classics from the Art Deco period. We loved its simplicity, efficiency and the beauty of the stones, particularly the yellow diamonds. MEDUSA Exhibition, Jewels and Taboos: an Insight by Michèle Heuzé

MEDUSA Exhibition, Jewels and Taboos: an Insight by Michèle Heuzé

The long-awaited exhibition MEDUSA opened its doors today at the MAM (Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris). You have until November 5th to discover a selection of jewelry and Avant-guard pieces. MEDUSA is an exhibition that clearly makes you think and opens a new perspective on jewelry and its taboos. To guide us in our visit, we had the great pleasure of meeting a historian and great specialist in the jewelry domain; Michèle Heuzé, scientific advisor to the exhibition's curator Anne Dressen. Careful; you will never look at your jewelry in the same way again... For the outlook: you wear a piece of jewelry for yourself and to be looked at. We wish to be seduced or to let others wonder about you. By wearing a piece of jewelry, you manifest an urge for life, a need to be loved and to bel...

High Jewellery: the Couture Bow

High Jewellery: the Couture Bow

Camelia brooch, pink spinel, from the collection Coco avant Chanel ©BérengèreTreussard2017 High Jewellery Week was full of ribbons and bows, a tribute to Couture Week I loved the high jewellery collections presented during the Paris Couture Week. As you know, I’m crazy about bows and have been for some time, I created a bow ring for a Maison that specialises in engagement rings. There is no greater fan of ribbons and bows than I. This couture trend began at the SIHH 2017 with Maison Van Cleef & Arpels presenting two superb ribbon secret watches, one with diamonds and the other with a very nice gradient of pink sapphires and diamonds. My big favourite for this edition. Secret Ribbon watch, pink sapphires, Van Cleef and Arpels ©BérengèreTreussard2017 Maison Chanel with its new collect...
