SIHH 2016: Twinkling Piaget

Back to SIHH 2016. Let’s start with the Maison Piaget which probably had the most scintillating booth with a polished scenography in tribute to his new limelight creations. With more than 600 km of suspended chain and a custom sound design, this stand plunged us into a twinkling and mesmerizing world. It awakened the senses, leading us to better admire the exceptional watches made with incredible artisanal know-how but also the new collections which were showcased: total Radiance.

For its first complication watch for women, Piaget offers a model with an elegant and soft line that may be worn both daytime and evening. The limelight stella is a lovely model made to appeal to contemporary women.

The star of the night is the Limelight Gala in pink gold or grey gold with its bracelet made of Milanese mesh somewhat reminiscent of a vintage line, it looks more modern in grey gold but rose gold is very flattering and follows the current trend of jewellery that blends with the skin for a very flattering result.

I had a crush - more than one – for the technical know-how but also the visual result. These watches are collectors’ item that you would want to collect just for pleasure, and for the craftsmanship involved. My big favourite is the Rose Piaget watch in sculpted gold by Dick Steeman. A treasure of delicacy and technical prowess inside an extremely thin altiplano case.

Also, this version in black and silver feather, a timepiece of utmost elegance and feminity.

And finally this Lion bullino on an Altiplano 38 mm: a delicate technique of gold engraving which requires a great know-how especially to reach the finesse of this majestic lion. I was amazed by the technical achievement, for men or women, this watch has character!

For men, SIHH saw the launching of the Emperador Cushion XL 700p with mechanical movement controlled by a quartz movement. With its cushion shape, it reminds me of the watch my dad used to wear in the 80s, round with a digital screen which was fashionable at the time. This stylish watch is available in limited edition and although opinions are divided, I myself would love to wear it!

Exquisite know-how for this sublime collector’s piece offering a delightful – painted and embossed – Japanese garden. I have no word to describe such beauty…

Last but not least, I had a crush for an Altiplano full diamonds and for a petite Marquise watch, easy to wear day and night…
