Because amongst my readers, there are also you gentlemen (the numbers have spoken!) to whom I wish to share my feminine insight for beautiful men's watches. For the ladies who are reading, these gift ideas or watches that you could steal from your boyfriend, will not leave you insensitive to these pretty objects that know how to shine differently from diamonds. These timekeepers are witness to an undeniable craftsmanship passed drown from generation to generation and, simply for this reason, we must take interest...
With Nicolas Mingalon we wanted to pay tribute to the know-how, the precision and dexterity of these watchmakers who spend ling hours behind their workbenches, meticulously assembling delicate, tiny parts of a clever mechanical device, which will reveal itself as a magnificent work of art in the end.
We fell in love with four rather incredible gentlemen's watches that are equally classical as sophisticated from four grand Maisons. Watches with a simple yet contemporary design, with clean lines, round but with complicated mechanisms...
The first Piaget watch was launched in 2015 and just recently was honored with the Grand Palmarès du 15e Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). This Altiplano Chronographe watch is ultra-thin with manual winding and for the first time accommodates a big horological complication.
This rose gold watch is also distinguished by a flyback function, which enables the chronograph hands to be rest at zero and automatically restart a new timing cycle with a single press. This delicate movement can be admired through the transparent back case. A true marvel...
The second watch comes from the Maison Vacheron Constantin; the emblematic Patrimony collection enshrines the purity of style. Indeed, I like the style of this watch, which is also ultra-thin with a caliber 1400 and a manual winding mechanical movement. In full gold, its little vintage touch inspired by the 1950s models has something very refined and elegant. For the record, I initially chose the traditional Patrimony caliber 2755 – simply the most expensive watch from Vacheron Constantin (Ah ah ah, me and my taste for luxury!) - but it was on show halfway around the world….
The third watch is a Jaeger-Lecoultre of course! I wanted to change from the classic and rectangular model and choose a watch that I find extremely elegant on a man's wrist. Limited to a production of 200, the enameled lunar date duometer is in white gold and has a Jaeger-Lecoultre 381 caliber and a mechanical movement with a 50 hour power reserve. A true gem...
We fell in love with this fourth model by Saxonia from the Maison A. Lange & Söhne which exudes classical chic and, above all, really versatile! Just as elegant on the wrist of a man as on a woman, this small white gold case is made up of a tried-and-tested L941.1. Walter Lange's personal motto was "Never Stop" and it can be seen that the new edition of the Saxonia watch created 20 years ago demonstrates a desire for perfection, elegance and purity. Each element, no matter how small, has a significant visual impact on the overall appearance of the model. I love this watch!
For this photo shoot, a big thank you to Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-Lecoultre and A. Lange & Söhne for their trust.
I would also like to thank Nicolas Mingalon, photographer, L’Heure d’Antan for the styling and Nakunpouce for the retouching.
For even more watches in January, I will be at the SIHH from the 18th to the 22nd of January 2016, don't forget to follow me on
Happy Holidays to all!
